KATIE M RAYNARD

Katie is a senior at Michigan State University studying Apparel and Textile Design. In her work, She has developed a conceptual approach to designing. She pulls from tangible and theoretical ideas to develop specific inspirations. She finds herself continuously researching and analyzing her concepts even as she is creating her pieces. This results in her approaching each piece uniquely specific in the idea development, construction, and finishing processes. She connects the inspiration of each piece to the experience an individual has wearing the piece to physically imply the concept.  Most often her pieces originate from inspiration that responds to movement or social issues in society. In this approach she is expanding the boundaries of fashion through her designs as a means of advocacy along with bringing an astatically interesting experience to both the viewer and wearer.

ANAMI CHAN

Anami is a senior at Michigan State University graduating with a bachelors degree in Apparel and Textile Design and a bachelors degree in Communications. When it comes to designing, she enjoys pulling inspiration from various cultures and furthering her research beyond the bounds of her piece. She prefers choosing concepts that focus on craft and artistry and pays great attention to detail in each process. For each project she takes on she focuses on each component thoroughly and explicitly before moving on to the next step. She cares greatly about a strong work ethic and that is why she is also pursing an entrepreneurial side to design. Her studies in Communication find a correlation with design by combining them together and using her skills in marketing and advertising to join the two in an occupational setting.
